Molecular Medicine strives to understand normal body functioning and disease pathogenesis at the molecular level which may allow researchers and physician-scientists to use that knowledge in the design of specific molecular tools for disease diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention. Manuscripts submitted to the journal should maintain this focus and describe the implications for human disease, at a level approachable by the broad readership of Molecular Medicine. The 2009 Journal Citation Report, showing impact factors calculated from citations of articles published in 2008 and 2007, lists Molecular Medicine with an impact factor of 5.020, putting it in the top 6% of publications. Molecular Medicine publishes work in the format of original research articles, review articles, mini-reviews, editorials, and commentaries on emerging concepts in the interdisciplinary field of molecular medicine.

Molecular Medicine places high priority on rapid publication. All content is published free online, ahead of print, within an average of 8 days after acceptance on our Web site www.molmed.org.  Following acceptance, papers are posted rapidly to PubMed, with an e-publication ahead of print citation. Molecular Medicine does not embargo content.

Molecular Medicine gives science back to the scientists by offering:

  • Free full-text access, without passwords or login requirements, to all publications dating back to the inaugural issue in November 1994.

  • Automatic submission of your work to PubMed Central according to the NIH Public Access Policy.

  • Rapid peer review. Average time to first decision is under three weeks.

  • Pre-submission enquiry service. Check to see if your manuscript topic is suitable for
Molecular Medicine - prior to formal submission.

  • Free podcast. The Mollie Medcast is available for free on our Web site and in the iTunes Music Store (type “Mollie Medcast” in the search bar). Download summaries of papers and listen to them wherever your mp3 player takes you!l submission.

HIGHLIGHTS of the recent literature include:

      • An intravenous treatment for spinal cord injury
     • Genetic predictors of anti-TNF response
     • Gene signatures for chronic fatigue syndrome
     • Proinflammatory cytokine activity in sepsis
